Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know that therapy is right for me?

There may be many reasons why you are considering therapy now, and choosing a therapist can feel overwhelming. Some things you might consider are: what is the general approach the therapist uses? What is the availability of the therapist? Do you find the therapist trustworthy and reliable? Does the therapist have experience in working with issues similar to yours?

The decision to begin therapy is a courageous one, and a decision which has both benefits and risks. I encourage you to take advantage of the free 20 minute consultation for more information.

How many sessions will I require? How frequently will we meet?

The number of sessions can vary depending on the issues you want to address. Also, the frequency in which we meet will also vary; however, this is something we can discuss during the first session.

How do I prepare for my first session?

Here are some tips to help you prepare for your first session:

Clear some time before and after your session. It is normal to feel unsettled and anxious before and/or after a therapy session, so taking some time for yourself can help you to feel present and prepared for what might come up in the session.

Arrive 10 minutes early to your session. For the first session, I will ask you to fill out a brief intake form, which includes some general questions such as contact information, medical history and previous experiences with therapy.

If you feel overwhelmed by thoughts of your first session, try  writing a list of things you would like to discuss, or questions you might have.

Do you have parking available?

YES! There is free parking at the back of the building designated for clients only. Should these spaces be full, there is also free  street parking in the residential area nearby on 17th ave NW and 17th St NW.

What is the nearest public transit?

The Lions Park LRT station is the nearest to the office building.

There are also various bus routes which will get you close to the office building. Please check the Calgary Transit website for route information.
